Xbox Support is definitely the most responsive to issues with consoles. This is yet another instance.
The following tweet was shared on Xbox Support Twitter after initial reports of Xbox consoles crashing with NBA 2K22:
Though it's been an issue with Xbox for a few weeks, more users are complaining about console crashing when trying to play NBA 2K22 on Xbox Series X/S. This is something that we discovered a few weeks ago.
When trying to load NBA 2K22 on Xbox Series X/S, some users have reported that their system shut down, and then an error message saying that the console was designed to automatically shut off because of inadequate ventilation.
It is possible that there are not ventilation problems for consoles, but there is a glitch that is triggering it.
NBA 2K22 isn't the only game having issues. Many others have started posting on forums that they're seeing similar messages when playing Madden 22 or FIFA 22. FIFA 22 is only available on the EA Play 10 hours free trial.
This is even more fascinating because games from 2K Sports and two from EA Sports have led to this error that all happen to be games that are sports-related too.
The issue is still present just a few days after, according to the Xbox Status page. It still lists an issue in NBA 2K22, however it's near to being resolved.
Another interesting fact is that Dexerto mentions that they sent an update tweet that stated that they were looking into problems with Madden 22 and FIFA 22 as mentioned above as well but the tweet has since been deleted completely due to a reason.
Microsoft hasn't yet announced any solution at this time. Instead, they're telling us to keep an eye out for more details. If you want to know more about can go https://www.mmoexp.com/Nfl-22/Coins.html
